The second endeavor to create a New Church community was led by the Rev. Wilihem Drekhoner. In January of 1815 he commissioned three men from a New Church society in St. Louis to find a single place in Iowa for a community. This was to be called the Jasper Colony.
This undertaking was done by mostly German group of families. These people were from Rev. Drekhoner's society and used Tafel's translation of the writings.
This group also began communist, but that did not last for long. Because good form land was so cheap in Iowa at this time the various family soon began to desire their own land. In 1853 to a general meeting voted to abolish the original objectives of the colony and divided the land up equally.
